The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation (KSDC) has successfully sent 94 youths from the state to Slovakia under its overseas job initiative, state Minister Sharan Prakash Patil announced on Saturday.

Minister Patil revealed that these individuals, comprising BE graduates and diploma holders, have now secured employment abroad, marking a significant milestone in their careers.

Distributing flight tickets to the candidates during a send-off ceremony on Friday, the Minister also outlined the timeline for dispatching different batches, with the first sent on June 5 and subsequent ones on June 20, June 24, and July 1. Each candidate is set to earn a salary of 970 Euros (Rs.86,000) per month.

Beyond Slovakia, the KSDC has facilitated employment for 37 drivers in Hungary and is exploring opportunities for welders in Mauritius. The corporation's Managing Director, M Kanagavalli, emphasized the ongoing efforts to meet human resource demands in countries such as Australia, Japan, Germany, Finland, Norway, and other European and Gulf nations. To cater to these markets, KSDC will introduce English language training at their centers.

Learning about Slovakia's interest in recruiting over 2,500 assembly line operators, Minister Patil directed officials to sign an agreement with the External Affairs ministry. Consequently, a batch of 94 candidates, including 54 ITI diploma holders, was sent to Slovakia after receiving free training at the Toyota Kirloskar unit in Bidadi, funded by the department for economically weaker candidates.
