Transnet has announced the appointment of Lekau ‘Solly’ Letsoalo as its new Group Chief Operating Officer, effective next month. Letsoalo, a seasoned logistics manager, brings a wealth of experience and respect in the industry to his new role.

Letsoalo previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of Transnet Port Terminals. His extensive career includes over 14 years in the private sector, where he was the Managing Director at Aveng Manufacturing and more recently the Chief Executive Officer of Cargo Carriers.

Michelle Phillips, Transnet's Group Chief Executive, expressed her enthusiasm about Letsoalo’s return to the company. "It is great to welcome Letsoalo back to Transnet and to be able to draw on his global knowledge of the logistics industry at such an important time in our organisation’s history," she said.

Transnet highlighted Letsoalo’s significant contributions during his previous tenure, including the expansion of the Pier 2 Container Terminal, the construction of the Pier 1 terminal, the building of the Ngqura Container Terminal, and the modernization of the Cape Town Container Terminal.

Furthermore, Transnet emphasized that Letsoalo's global experience, which includes professional development in countries like the USA, UK, Belgium, Germany, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Japan, enhances his leadership capabilities and positions him well for his new role.
