The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) of the Government of India, along with CSC eGovernance Services India Limited, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to synergize their efforts in providing eMigrate services through Common Service Centers (CSCs) across the country. This collaboration aims to streamline the emigration process, particularly for blue-collar workers heading to Emigration Check Required (ECR) countries, by making it more accessible and efficient.
The eMigrate project, designed to address the challenges faced by migrant workers, aims to create a seamless online emigration process. It integrates foreign employers, registered recruitment agents, and insurance companies onto a single platform to promote safe and legal migration.
The MoU was signed during the National Workshop on "Powering Transformation through UI/UX for Digital Governance," attended by prominent figures such as Shri Rajesh Singh, Joint Secretary & Financial Advisor, MeitY; Ms. Debjani Ghosh, President, NASSCOM; and Shri Amit Agrawal, CEO, UIDAI & DG, NIC.
Shri Bramha Kumar, Joint Secretary (OE & PGE) Division, MEA; Shri Sanket Bhondve, Joint Secretary (DigiGov), MeitY; and Shri Akshay Jha, COO, CSC eGovernance Services India Limited, were the signatories of the MoU.
Through this partnership, the following eMigrate services will be made available to citizens via CSCs:
Registration of applicants on the eMigrate portal through CSCs.
Uploading and processing required documents for applicants on the eMigrate portal through CSCs.
Booking medical and other necessary services for migrant workers or applicants registered on the eMigrate portal through CSCs.
Creating awareness about eMigrate services among citizens across India.
This initiative is expected to significantly aid the growing number of Indians seeking employment abroad, ensuring a safer and more regulated migration process while enhancing their contribution to the national economy through remittances.
