Kemba Walker hears the chatter that he will be the target of a "super team" if he becomes an unrestricted free agent next July.

But the way he sees it is that he likes where he is now.

The two-time All-Star guard is entering his eighth season with the Charlotte Hornets, and he said his preference is to remain with the franchise.

Walker said he doesn't "want to be nowhere else," when he spoke with reporters Monday during the club's media day festivities. He asserted that joining a team already loaded with stars carries little appeal to him.

"You see guys who are on elite teams. I don't want to do that," Walker said. "I want to create something special here in Charlotte, something that we have never had here before. I want to create some consistency. And I want to be a part of that."

Walker is the franchise's all-time leading scorer with 9,907 points and has averaged more than 20 points in each of the past three seasons. He averaged 22.1 points last season after averaging a career-high 23.2 the previous season.

Walker also has averaged more than five assists in each of the past six seasons. His 3-point shooting continues to improve, with his top two outputs coming over the past two seasons -- 240 (on 39.9 percent shooting) in 2016-17 and 231 (38.4 percent) last season.

Production aside, there is uncertainty over the future direction of the Hornets after the team recently hired Mitch Kupchak as general manager. But the 28-year-old Walker feels things will sort themselves out, and he expects the team to attempt to re-sign him either before or after his four-year, $48 million concludes.

"I just have that feeling," Walker said.
