Soccer-Flamengo go third after 2-1 win in Brazil's Serie A
RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Flamengo jumped to third place in Brazil's Serie A on Sunday thanks to a 2-1 win over Atletico-Mineiro at the Maracana stadium in Rio.
The home side took the lead in the second minute thanks to William Arao but Leo Silva headed Atletico level from a corner midway through the first half.
Midfielder Lucas Paqueta, days after making his first appearance for Brazil, won Flamengo all three points when he guided a powerful header past the keeper nine minutes into the second half.
The win was Flamengo's first in six league matches and lifted them into third place, two points behind Internacional, who drew 1-1 with Corinthians, and three behind leaders Sao Paulo.
Atletico, who were unbeaten in their four league matches before Sunday, are sixth. (Reporting by Andrew Downie; editing by Clare Fallon)
