A delegation of Iranian economic experts has landed in Syria to explore the chances of investment opportunities and lay out the restoration plans of the war-stricken nation. They were welcomed by Syrian deputy economy minister Rania Ahmed.

As reported by the Mehr news agency on August 13, the delegation of senior officials and economic experts from the ministry of road and urban development of Iran have traveled to the Syrian capital of Damascus to proceed with the Arab country’s plans of reconstruction.

The deputy minister of roads and urban development, Amir Amini, said that the Iranian investors and industrialists are looking forward to playing a key role in the reconstruction of Syria.

The continuation of “strategic cooperation would serve both the countries’ interests”, he added.

Several meetings are already lined up to be held with senior Syrian officials during the delegation’s three-day visit.

Hard-hit by hostilities, many urban hubs across Syria, particularly around Damascus needs immediate restoration and rebuilding them will be his top priority said, President Bashar Assad.

The agreement is going to be a long-term one between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria. All the meetings and respective talks with Syrian officials will primarily focus on banking and customs regulations so as to increase trade between the two countries.
