What are Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?
17 targets had been set for the next 15 years, which were decided to achieve in the period from 2015 to 2030.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are sets of goals related to the future of international development. SDGs are created by the United Nations for sustainable development and have been publicized as goals.
As we know that Millennium Development Goals were finished in 2015, the decision to achieve Sustainable Development Goals was taken at the UN Summit. In this regard, the meeting of the General Assembly was held in New York from 25 to 27 September 2015.
17 targets had been set for the next 15 years, which were decided to achieve in the period from 2015 to 2030.
193 countries participated in this meeting. The theme of this UN Summit was "Transforming our world: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development".
Global goals of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) include eliminating poverty, protecting the environment, reducing economic inequality and ensuring peace and justice for all. New topics such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace, and justice have been added.
Unlike the Millennium Development Goals, there is no difference between "developed" and "developing" countries in sustainable development goals and these goals must be achieved by all countries. Many of these goals are related to each other and are based on the principle of "no one left behind".
