Google is introducing several updates around framing controls for Meet hardware devices.

To begin with, an admin setting will allow admins to choose a default framing option for their meeting spaces. This will help ensure that every meeting begins with an optimally configured view and participants jump right into their meetings without having to re-adjust camera settings from the previous meeting.

Secondly, Google is adding framing support on whiteboards (Series One Desk 27 and Board 65) and remote-controlled only Google Meet hardware devices, ensuring optimal camera framing on these devices.

Next up, there are some minor adjustments in the appearance of camera framing settings on hardware devices in this update. For Google Meet on Android, the "Continuous framing" toggles have been replaced with a "Framing by" toggle. On the third-party devices, you’ll see "Framing by Logitech", "Framing by Huddly" or "Framing by Poly".

Additionally, the "Home" button has been changed to "Reset to default".

Admins can configure default camera framing options for individual Google Meet hardware devices by navigating to Devices > Google Meet hardware > [Device Name] > Device Settings > Default camera framing.

The updated camera framing settings on Meet hardware devices will begin rolling out to both Rapid and Scheduled Release domains on May 14, 2024.

The new admin control will begin rolling out to Rapid and Scheduled Release domains starting on May 21, 2024, and may take up to 15 days to be fully visible.
