A Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus carrying passengers caught fire in the Mahipalpur area of South Delhi on Friday afternoon, officials from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) reported. Remarkably, no injuries were sustained during the incident.
Authorities received a call about the fire at 3:24 pm, prompting the dispatch of three fire tenders. The DFS successfully brought the fire under control within 45 minutes. However, the bus was entirely gutted, according to a DFS officer. The bus was en route from IGI airport to Vasant Kunj.
Both passengers and the bus driver evacuated the vehicle shortly after the fire ignited. Initial investigations suggest that a short circuit may have caused the blaze. Additionally, a bike and scooter parked nearby were also gutted in the fire. The police have launched a further investigation into the incident.
